Georgia Daffodil Society - Public Plantings

The 2009 GDS Show, titled “ The Trumpets of Spring ” is a standard daffodil and design show (approved by the American Daffodil Society and the National Council of Garden Clubs, Inc.), and is co-sponsored by the North Georgia Council of Flower Show Judges.

The 2009 show will be held the afternoons of Saturday and Sunday, March 21-22, 2009, at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, in Day Hall. Admission is free with paid entry to the Atlanta Botanical Garden.

Show times are 2:00pm – 5:00pm on Saturday, and Sunday 12:00pm – 5:00pm.

The show features educational displays, judged exhibitions of over 100 daffodil varieties and judged floral designs featuring daffodils.

Anyone interested in showing their daffodils should contact Darrin Ellis-May at ktrzrule@mac.com, to receive a show schedule. First-time exhibitors may bring daffodil stems to show, and all are eligible to win ribbons. Please be at Day Hall no later than 9:00AM, Saturday. GDS members will assist newcomers in identifying and staging their flowers. We request novices wishing to show become members of the GDS (a nominal $10.00 fee).

A Daffodil I. D. Workshop will be held for visitors on Saturday, from 2:00pm to 3:00pm in Day Hall. Please bring in examples of your unknown daffodils. We will do our best to I. D. your flowers and answer your questions.
